Deaflympics 2009

On Friday more than 4000 deaf athletes from across the world will come together to celebrate the opening ceremony of the 2009 Deaflympics in Taipei.

A record 85 countries will be represented at the games which is often overlooked by much of the sporting world.

The Deaflympics are as much about celebrating the achievments of deaf people around the world as they are about the competition and sporting events. Visit the official website of the 2009 Deaflympics for a history of the games and a list of events taking place.
